Blurb:

Brinna is back and in more danger than ever.

After a truth is revealed about the light and dark Fae factions, Brinna and Logan hit the road to find answers. The moment they let their guards down, Brinna is taken by a Fae male named Killam. It isn’t long before she finds herself at Camp Noir, another Fae containment camp. This time, though, there is no hope of escape.

Deciding to hunker down and collect as much information as possible, Brinna is more scared and alone than she has ever been. She is more than willing to sacrifice herself to keep her family alive, but her captors don’t want to kill her. They want her to join them, and when they bring Logan into the room she is being tortured in, she knows she is fighting a losing battle.

Finding an unexpected ally in the mix might come in handy, but does the help come too late to save Brinna, Logan, and the light Fae from their doom?

Loyalties will shift, courage will be tested, and hearts will be broken in the final installment of The Blackshadow Chronicles. This mature YA urban fantasy novel will appeal to fans of The Lost Clan Series and The Fever Series.

This series is a duology and should be read in order starting with Book 1.

But first, the blurb:

A war fueled by hatred. A girl pushed in the middle.
Humans and Fae are at war—a war Brinna Rogers wants nothing to do with. She is content living with her parents, going to school, and pretending the streets aren’t filled with fighting. Until she has no choice but to face it.
On her way home one damp night, danger strikes, thrusting Brinna down a rabbit hole of change. A binding spell snaps, and she finds out she has been lied to her whole life. She isn’t a human like she thought. Instead, she is Fae, and not just any. Her name is Brinna Blackshadow and she is a Fae Princess.
Within moments, she is shoved over the edge of reality, plummeting straight down until she crashes head first into the war. In order to break free, she must strike a deal with the leader of the human army—one that makes guilt rise to the forefront.

Because when you strike a deal with the devil, you might pay with more than your soul.

Fae Princess is the first installment of The Blackshadow Chronicles. It will appeal to fans of Sarah J Maas’s ACOTAR series and Julie Kagawa’s The Iron Fey Series.

And now, an exclusive excerpt from Fae Princess:

I opened the bag, and inside there were at least a dozen clear plastic vials with covered needles at the bottom. Pulling one out, I held it up in the car between us. “What exactly is this?” My heart raced with fear. Why did Logan have what looked like immunization shots I used to get at the doctor’s? And why did he look like he might be sick the moment he laid eyes on the shot?

“It’s a drug. I’m not sure what it’s called, I never asked. It isn’t my job to ask. It’s my job to execute the attacks.”

I quirked my eyebrows toward him. What was Logan talking about? I wanted to ask, but fear held my tongue, made me swallow it so I couldn’t get any more words out.

But, he read my quirked eyebrows as a signal. “Wondering why I have a bag full of hypodermic needles filled with a fluid to make sure people black out and don’t wake up for a while? I’m a soldier, Brinna. One of the Fae soldiers, so when I leave the compound, it’s because I have a mission, a job if you will. Usually I’m going after human soldiers, and usually, they don’t put up much of a fight.”

I’m sure the edges of panic showed through my widened eyes, slightly parted mouth, and heavier than normal breathing. Logan was a soldier. He’d been a soldier since I’d met him.  My head spun. I didn’t know what to think. I could hardly breathe. But yet, when I looked at Logan, he looked as panicked as I did. Maybe he’d thought I’d run from him. Maybe he just needed someone to understand who he really was.

“So, you’re a soldier. Okay. I think I can handle that,” I replied, wanting him to know he had me on his side. I wouldn’t turn my back on him. Not now, not ever.

Blog Tour Stop for J. E. Klimov The Aeonians

Today, I have the opportunity to host J.E. Klimov on their new release. You’ll get an interview and some book info and it will be a blast, so come on in, put up your feet, and get ready to have some fun.

J’s new release, The Aeonians, will take you on a wild ride for sure. It’s a fantasy novel that I’ve had the pleasure of reading in its early stages and I can’t wait to get my hands on it again!

AeoniansCover

Isabel Deran only wants to practice archery with the castle guards, and that is the last thing expected from an elegant Princess. Living in the shadow of her late sister, Victoria, she is next in line to receive the ro

yal armlet that is embedded with four stones: an opal, a sapphire, an amber, and a ruby. It is a revered family heirloom with the power of the elements passed down from mother to daughter.

However, an evil, once thought to be sealed away in a prison in which time does not pass, breaks free with an army that swarms the castle and wrecks havoc over the kingdom in search for the magical armlet. They are known as the Aeonians. When they kidnap Isabel and place their hands on it, the precious stones vanish.

Isabel is now trapped in a race against time to locate her stones of power with the head of the Aeonian army, Bence Brechenhad, stalking her like a shadow. With the help of her trusty weapon, the sai, she fights her way through seemingly impossible trials and fearsome monsters in order to restore peace in her kingdom.

Sounds pretty good, right? I think so!! Seriously, I can’t wait to read it!

Now, let’s check out the interview with the amazing author!

1.      What made you want to become a writer?

Believe it or not, my aspirations were not in writing at first. I was an artist who loved sketching and inking. I even created my own graphic novels. (On folded, cut, plain paper…) As time passed, I wanted another medium to share my stories, and after NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), I was hooked and wanted to become an established author! To be able to share stories and inspire others is truly rewarding.

2.      What inspires you?

I’m having a hard time finding inspiration these days. Most of my ideas were spun from my high school days where my imagination was limitless.

However, I now try to draw from my experiences from my travels: China, Taiwan, Japan, autumn in New Hampshire, and more. I drink in the environment and take mental notes. Also, The Legend of Zelda franchise. (I’m sure those that have been following me are sick of my Zelda references.) I guess the central theme is beautiful landscapes that beg for adventure.

3.      Are any of your characters from The Aeonians inspired by people you know?

I did model Isabel a bit after myself; however, it’s actually very hard to do that. During the revision process, I distanced her persona from me a little, so Isabel can have a personality all her own. Other than that, this novel has new, unique creations. There are other novel ideas where characters are based off some really wonderful friends though.

4. What is your writing process like?

I’m still figuring it out! I was a “pantser” when writing The Aeonians. (For those that don’t know, the term “pantser” is one that writes on the fly!) Now, I am a bit more organized. I always find a quiet corner, preferably in a café that sells caffeinated drinks, listen to soundtracks, and write. In the sequel, my current work in progress, I created a general outline of my plot down to the chapter. From that, I write details as I go.

5.      How did you find the perfect editor?

You know, I struggled with this. As this was my first novel, I had no idea how to go about this. Do I empty my wallet or ask friends etc? I ended up with a blend of both. I had a few friends take a look, then had it rigorously workshopped on Scribophile.com, then I hired a freelance editor for proofreading who offered an affordable price. My publisher, Silver Leaf Books, also offered professional editing. It was definitely a learning curve!

6.      Tell me about your story. Your characters.

The challenge with telling people about my story is that I don’t know when to stop! So, I’ll give it my best: The story takes place on a mystical island named Deran, which is run by a matriarchal system. When Princess Victoria passes away, her older sister Isabel is next in line to receive the royal armlet that contains four precious stones that grants the power of the elements. While Isabel struggles with her confidence, an imprisoned dark force breaks free from a prison in which time does not pass. Their army, the Aeonians, storms the castle and tries to obtain this coveted armlet. Not to give the rest of the plot away, chaos ensues. Isabel must fight to retrieve her precious stones that fled her armlet with the help of her weapon, the sai, while the head of the Aeonian army is at her heels.

Princess Isabel is not the typical princess. She is an awkward tomboy with confidence issues. The main antagonist is Bence Brechenhad, who is sarcastic, brooding, and calculating. While his twin brother, Farid, follows instructions rigidly, Bence tends to take matters into his own hands. Other than humans, I have six other species that live in Deran, four of which reside in their own city. I take pride in that these species are my own creation: from reptilian-like creatures the size of boulders to gilled fur-balls with floppy ears.

7.      Are you working on anything else right now? If so, can you tell us a little about it?

I am working on two things at the moment. Firstly, I am working on the sequel to The Aeonians, named The Shadow Warrior. I can’t say too much about it without giving it away, but it takes place after the Aeonian War. Readers will get to see more of the world beyond Deran. The second project is a fairy tale re-telling short story for the next installment of the Just-Us-League Anthology!

8. Do you write in absolute silence or do you have the TV or radio on while you write?

I need music. Not just any music, though. For some reason, I can’t have any vocals in it- too distracting. Movie scores and gaming soundtracks help me focus and even help spark some inspiration.

9. Do you have an Aeonians inspired playlist?

Sigh. I don’t. I think it would be pretty awesome if I did…
